Today, Flank unveiled an enterprise-grade agentic system purpose-built to resolve routine legal requests end-to-end.

Unlike existing tools that are prompted by lawyers directly to assist with typical day-to-day legal work, Flank agents pick up requests directly in existing channels (Outlook, Teams, Jira, Salesforce) and work autonomously 24 hours a day.

“Legal teams aren’t slow, they’re swamped,” said Lilian Breidenbach, CEO at Flank. “Flank agents take ownership of the parts of legal work that don’t need a human’s judgement: intake, drafting, routing and record-keeping. Lawyers stay in control via supervision and escalation points, they review any higher risk items, not every repetitive tick of the workflow. That’s the point: outcomes, not busywork.”

Why this matters

In large enterprises, thousands of repetitive requests—NDAs, SOWs, routine vendor agreements, and other low-complexity requests—clog legal backlogs and distract in-house teams from strategic work and managing true legal risk.

While existing AI helps lawyers work faster, it doesn’t eliminate the tasks they shouldn’t be spending time on in the first place. Instead of focusing on improving the efficiency of lawyers, Flank empowers legal teams to delegate entire scopes of work to an agent. These agents work asynchronously through an organisation’s stack, resolving requests within pre-approved policies and escalating only when rules demand human review.

The result is an endlessly scalable workforce capable of resolving requests from the business within minutes at any hour of the day.

How Flank keeps autonomy safe

Flank’s agentic system is carefully architected around three safety pillars:

  • Auditability: Every decision, prompt, edit and action is logged and queryable for audit, compliance and post-hoc review.
  • Steerability: Legal teams set guardrails, escalation thresholds and approval gates so lawyers remain accountable owners of outcomes.
  • Execution: Agents pick up requests where they arise, then leverage multiple tools and data sources to resolve the request within the guardrails set by the legal admins.

Example: an NDA from request to signature

  1. Request arrives in Outlook or Teams.
  2. Agent identifies intent, extracts context and risk indicators.
  3. Agent drafts from the organisation’s template, applies negotiated redlines or responds to counterparty edits.
  4. Agent escalates for review if rules require (e.g., non-standard terms, above-threshold liability).
  5. After approval, the agent finalises, signs and files the document — with full traceability.
