Today marks the official launch of Landfall IP, an AI-native patent law firm built from the ground up to deliver a frictionless experience that produces faster, higher-quality, and more cost-effective patent solutions for modern innovators. Founded by highly acclaimed attorneys Michael Drapkin and Nathan Mutter, the firm combines elite legal expertise with an AI-powered platform and integrated drafting system. This unified approach reshapes how ideas are developed, evaluated, and protected.

“With Landfall IP, we set out to build a patent firm that is fundamentally different, not just incrementally better,” said Drapkin, Co-Founder of Landfall IP and the 2022 U.S. Patent Practitioner of the Year awarded by Managing IP. “Innovators deserve a process that is faster, clearer, more strategic, and more predictable. By pairing world class legal expertise with deeply integrated AI systems, we are delivering a step change improvement in both client experience and patent quality.”

Together, Mutter and Drapkin have served as the top outside counsel to leading technology companies including Qualcomm, Micron, Coinbase, Oura, Salesforce, and Rubrik. In close coordination with Christine LaBerge and their broader team, they have created a fully reimagined patent workflow that integrates advanced AI systems into meaningful points in the value chain. Their goal is to empower founders, startups, and bold innovators to develop and protect their IP in a revolutionary and improved way.

Landfall IP’s launch includes the public introduction of its Discovery Agent, a first of its kind AI system that interviews inventors, structures their ideas, surfaces core inventive concepts, and in real time generates a patentability report. The tool is available free on a limited basis, and enables founders and early stage teams to gain early clarity before investing in drafting or filing.

“The Discovery Agent flips the early part of the patent process on its head,” said Mutter, Co-Founder of Landfall IP. “Instead of lengthy intake forms, scattered notes, and uncertain next steps, founders experience a streamlined and intuitive system that helps them crystallize their ideas. It dramatically improves both the client journey and the resulting work product.”
