Media Code of Conduct

As a journalist or content creator attending LegalTechTalk under a complimentary media pass, you agree to the following Code of Conduct, ensuring a professional, ethical, and respectful environment for all participants.

  1. Professional Standards
    – Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, accuracy, fairness, and impartiality in your reporting and content creation.
    – Act respectfully in all interactions with attendees, speakers, partners, and staff.
  2. Authenticity and Transparency
    – Identify yourself as a journalist or content creator when approaching participants.
    – Clearly state your name, affiliation, and the purpose of any interviews, quotes, or recordings.
  3. Respect for Privacy and Data Protection
    – Obtain express consent before photographing, filming, recording, or quoting individuals.
    – Respect embargoes, closed sessions, Chatham House rules, and any information designated as “off the record.”
    – Comply with applicable data protection and GDPR regulations when handling any personal information.
  4. Compliance with Event Policies
    – Adhere to all LegalTechTalk event guidelines, including policies on photography, filming, and session participation.
    – Respect any instructions from event organisers, moderators, or staff regarding coverage restrictions.
  5. Independence and Impartiality
    – Maintain editorial independence in your coverage.
    – Clearly disclose any financial or personal interests where relevant.
  6. Content Creation and Representation
    – Produce content that accurately reflects the event, its speakers, and its participants.
    – Avoid sensationalism, misrepresentation, and misleading headlines.
    – Disclose any potential conflicts of interest clearly and transparently.
  7. Timely and Responsible Coverage
    – Publish content relating to your LegalTechTalk experience within 21 days of attending, unless otherwise agreed with the event team.
    – Notify the LegalTechTalk team promptly if you experience significant delays.
  8. Accuracy, Corrections, and Right of Reply
    – Promptly correct any inaccuracies if errors are identified.
    – Offer a fair opportunity for clarification or response if your content includes critical perspectives.
  9. Engagement with Event Organisers
    – Share links to your published coverage with LegalTechTalk’s marketing team for potential promotional use, subject to mutual agreement.
    – Cooperate with event staff as needed to ensure a smooth and successful experience for all attendees.

Consequences of Breach

Breaching this Code of Conduct may result in:

  • Revocation of your media pass;
  • Removal from the event;
  • Disqualification from future LegalTechTalk media accreditation;
  • Further action if legal, regulatory, or reputational issues arise.
 

By accepting a LegalTechTalk media pass, you agree to comply with this Code of Conduct and contribute to a positive, professional event environment.
