Draftwise has launched Ontonomi, a standalone offering of its proprietary intelligence layer, alongside a founding partnership with Ropes & Gray.
Ontonomi gives a standalone identity to the legal ontology platform Draftwise first announced in August. Ropes & Gray will use the technology to build a legal ontology for its private funds practice, structuring and connecting experience from fund formation work including partnership agreements, side letters, MFN provisions and other negotiated rights.
The private funds deployment is the first application of a broader partnership between the companies, with plans to extend the legal ontology into additional areas of the firm’s practice. Draftwise says Ontonomi is designed to turn firms’ existing legal work and experience into proprietary data assets that can be used by lawyers and AI systems.
