Leon Johnson, a private equity and growth equity partner at Goodwin in San Francisco, has joined Zurich-based AI-native law firm Omnilex as Managing Partner. He will lead Omnilex’s business in the US.

Johnson was previously a partner at Kirkland & Ellis, where he helped build the firm’s Salt Lake City office from launch to more than 100 legal professionals in under two years.

Founded in 2024, Omnilex says its lawyers work with AI agents that know each client’s contracts, deals and past matters, allowing the firm to raise issues before clients ask. The firm raised a USD 4.5 million seed round in November 2025, led by Founderful, and counts more than 100 legal teams as clients, including teams from Bayer, Deloitte and Swatch.

Johnson said: “Law firms are reactive. A client calls with a problem, the firm solves it and sends a bill, so companies treat legal like insurance and the work that would actually improve the business never gets done.”
