Laurel and Thomson Reuters have announced a partnership aimed at helping law firms measure the business impact of AI across legal work.
The partnership combines Thomson Reuters’ legal technology, including CoCounsel Legal, with Laurel’s work intelligence platform. Laurel captures activity across an attorney’s workflow and connects it with client and matter data, giving firms greater visibility into billable time, profitability, write-down risk and the return on AI investments.
As AI adoption increases, the companies are targeting a growing challenge for law firms: moving beyond usage and adoption metrics to understand how AI is affecting financial and operational performance. According to Laurel, firms using its platform recover up to 30 minutes of additional billable time per attorney per day and see a 4–11% revenue lift.
Ryan Alshak, CEO and Co-Founder of Laurel, said: “Thomson Reuters brings the tools attorneys rely on to do legal work. Laurel captures that work and makes it visible: how time is spent, where write-down risk is building, and whether the firm’s AI investments are pulling their weight.”
Thomson Reuters legal customers can now access Laurel in the US.
