OpenAI has launched Astra for Law, a new AI offering designed specifically for law firms and legal technology companies, built around its GPT-6 Astra model.
Astra for Law combines the model with legal-specific instructions and a search index covering US case law, statutes, regulations, court rules and administrative decisions across more than 230 million URLs. OpenAI said Harvey and Legora will be among the API customers able to build the technology into their own products and workflows.
The launch also includes 26 partner-built plugins connecting ChatGPT with legal technology platforms including Relativity, Clio, iManage, Intapp, DeepJudge and Thomson Reuters. Selected law firms will initially receive access through OpenAI’s Trusted Access Program, with Astra for Law also set to come to the API.
