Relativity has appointed Chris Brown as President following its recent acquisition of AI-native legal technology company Gavel, as it accelerates plans to expand AI across the legal workflow.
Brown, who joined Relativity as Chief Product Officer in 2018, will continue leading the product organisation while also taking responsibility for marketing and technology partnerships. His priorities include integrating Gavel into RelativityOne, expanding AI integrations and advancing the company’s legal data intelligence platform.
Gavel enables legal professionals to draft, review and automate legal work directly in Microsoft Word. Relativity said the acquisition will extend its platform into the drafting process, helping lawyers keep work product connected to the evidence and context held within RelativityOne.
Phil Saunders, CEO of Relativity, said: “We’ve spent years building the data foundation, the governance and the agentic capabilities behind our platform, and I believe Chris is the right leader to shift us into high gear, to elevate Relativity’s system of action, reach further into the surfaces where legal work happens and make it easier for legal teams to engage directly with their data.”
